Actors wanted. Male and female, 20's and an older "Master Actor". For a funny "Studio Play" project.
What we are going to do, in a nutshell, is shoot a feature length comedy in one day! (Two at the most.)
Everyone knows what a stage play is. I am calling this a STUDIO PLAY. In a stage play, the sets gets changed 3 times usually. In our studio play the backgrounds will get changed 30 or 40 times! (We'll shoot on green screen.)
In a stage play, the lines are memorized of course, and boy oh boy you better not forget a line!
In our Studio Play, a Master Actor, with script in hand, will perform the lines off camera. The actors take turns copying the performances of the Master Actor. Several takes will be OK. We'll get it right.
You can see that the Master Actor is vitally important. This person will be performing, not just reading.
In editing, the off camera voices are cut out, and we end up with a somewhat regular looking movie. Lots better than a stage play. And no one will know the actors did not memorize their lines!
This is a character driven story, so the acting has to be really good.
Bye the way, the script has been in 8 screenplay contests and won 4 awards!
My last comedy, 40 minutes long, won a Best Satire Award.
And a dramatic short I made, 22 minutes long, was all filmed on green screen, and won 4 awards at festivals. The actress, a beginner, won a Best Actress Award. It also won a Best Director Award, a Best Editor Award and a Most Inspirational Film Award. Both movies are on Apple TV now. You can find them, by first looking on my homepage.
I have 8 movies on UVOtv now, and I expect this movie will be shown there too.
Some notes... We will do a rehearsal first, and all the actors will have read over the script multi times on their own. How many times? Do you want to stand out? This is a chance for actors to really shine and get noticed.
1. This project is an excellent opportunity for new actors and a new producer. Enthusiasm counts.
2. The Master Actor can be any age, male or female and must have a good understanding of comedy acting, regarding which words to emphasize, and how to say them, timing, and so on.
3. Also, the Master Actor could also (maybe) be the producer trainee, multi tasker, and casting director. This might suit an ambitious actor who wants to make their own films in the future.
The characters, three females, early 20's, three males, 25ish, other male, 20 to 60. A couple of onlookers 20 to 40. A chance to do something that has maybe never been done before. Also, all people in this production can have demo reels made just the way they want them. And high quality photos too. Would you like some character photos like the "Magic Lemon" photo above? (Btw, the title has been changed now.)
Whoever gets to be the multi tasker producer will learn how to make their own films, fast and cheap. And I don't mean just for Studio Plays..... for regular movies filmed indoors and outdoors too.
I would like to find the Producer trainee/multi tasker first. Ideally this would also be the Master Actor.
Early bird actors can also email me. Formal resumes and head shots are not needed. A few lines about yourself, and selfies are OK. Please first have a good look around my website. You will learn some things about acting for free, and how I work with actors and make films. I want bold, ambitious people who know deep inside that they have big talent.
I don't know if anyone else has made a feature length movie this way before. We might be the first. It will get attention. You will get noticed. It will have a good chance of getting on TV.
The producer trainee/multi tasker will get multi credits. As producer, casting director, script supervisor, set dec, assistant director, minor actor and maybe more.
Everyone will get a custom made demo reel, showing the parts of the movie that they want.
The full script will be sent to the best applicants.
This is risky for me. It will be a lot of work for me, with extensive green screen editing, and the actors pay coming out of my pension. For now, I am thinking principal actors will get about $200 and the Master Actor will get $400. It should all be easily doable in a one day shoot. As little as 5 or 6 hours if everyone is well prepared. Minor actors get $50 for an hour or less time. This may vary. And don't forget your special demo reel and photos bonus. Plus I will teach you my special acting trick. I am a good director and I have helped two actresses win a total of 3 Best Actress Awards.
This is an experiment for me. I hope to recover my costs by having it on UVOtv. Also, I want to be able to use it to help get funding for a real movie version of the story. The pay is low. Think of this as an acting workshop where you get paid to attend! You will get seen by potential executive producers.
A retired script supervisor, with 108 IMDB movie credits read the script and said "I chuckled a lot" and "It could turn into a series like Friends" And she worked on big time movies and TV series with A list actors, so she knows something special when she sees it.
