Molly and Sylvie, early 20's are new actresses and roommates trying to get movie work. They sometimes feel they are living in a soap opera, and they are! Their lives are full of unexplained coincidences and absurd situations, including a car chase scene.
Early in the story they are almost hit by a slow moving car and they start to chase the car, hitting it with their purses. They chase the car in a back lane, on a country road, a desert, a surf beach and a snowy road. Molly is in her bikini as she runs, and in this scene they start to get indications that they are in a soap opera. The car is driven by Boogie Man who later follows Molly and finds out where they live.
On one of their walks they meet handsome and muscular Ryan, another aspiring actor, who is juggling 3 lemons, which is part of his ploy to land a role in a movie. Molly and Sylvie are both smitten by Ryan's muscles and good looks. Ryan sings a funny song that he will sing in his upcoming audition.
Molly and Sylvie are startled by a T-Rex dinosaur on one of their walks, and Sylvie is afraid. Molly comforts her by telling her she can make the dinosaur stop if he starts coming towards them, by taking her top off. She says she learned that trick on facebook. Both young actresses are expecting calls regarding small movie roles, and they get more and more nervous as the day goes on.
Molly and Sylvie both sing funny songs in their apartment, and later outside, which turn into psychedelic music videos. They encounter Molly's nemesis, Princess Kassandra, singing and dancing on an outdoor stage, with her performances turning into exciting music videos. Kassandra is a bit older than Molly and Sylvie and she is willing to do nudity in movies. She does a very funny topless scene in this movie.
Molly discloses that she split up with her boyfriend because he sold his car. Sylvie mentions that she split up with her lesbian girlfriend because she also sold her car. Sylvie shares some philosophical wisdom about being happy and creative which really impresses Molly. Molly asks where she learned that and Sylvie says she learned it from "the writer". Molly says "Writer, what writer?" Sylvie says "The guy who writes what we say."
They discuss possibly doing nude scenes in movies, and being nude in front of a horse and their cats.
Ryan sings his song again in a spectacular outdoor music video with special effects. He visits Molly and Sylvie and shows them his Amputee Barbie Doll and tells them it is very valuable. He says he might sell it and use the money to take an expensive acting course in New York. Molly said she might do that too, and maybe they can go up on the Umpire State Building. All three of them get their small acting gigs. There's funny stuff during the credits too. The songs are funny.
