Sam, about 40, a recovering alcoholic, hires Leah, about 25, to make a topless video for him. She makes several more videos for him in the next while, and they become friends though they never have sex. Sam learns Leah uses cocaine "sometimes" and later learns she is actually an addict.
Leah lives with her abusive drug dealer boyfriend who gives her coke. They fight sometimes and Leah takes refuge at Sam's place. Sam learns Leah is a part time prostitute. He takes her to AA meetings. At first she doesn't want to go, but later she wants to go and she quits cocaine sometimes. She sleeps on Sam's couch sometimes, and often goes back to her drug dealer boyfriend.
She learns her boyfriend is planning a big drug deal, where he will cheat another dealer and then have him murdered. Leah's drug dealer boyfriend calls Sam late at night and says he can have Sam killed easily, for free, because a gang owes him some favours. Sam devises a dangerous plan to prevent the murder and to get the drug dealer to leave him and Leah alone.
Sam meets a woman about his age while he continues to help Leah. Sam marries the woman, but leaves her for Leah, after being married for only two minutes. End.
And yes it's based on a true story.

I started this project in 2003. I got one investor but it was not enough. I made numerous practice scenes, at the links below. They are all on youtube, so it is OK to watch them without legal jepardy. Different actors play mostly Sam and Leah in different scenes, with one scene with the drug dealer and his friend.
Two practice scenes. Leah visits Sam for breakfast and later comes back high on cocaine. They discuss her topless videos, which they made so she doesn't have to prostitute. Both songs are available.
Leah spent a week on Skid Row and called Sam to come and get her.
Leah's drug dealer boyfriend treats her badly and sends her shopping.
Leah's boyfriend has beaten her and she is at Sam's, recuperating. She asks Sam if they are soulmates.
Leah has gone to 12 step meetings and she is clean and sober. She talkes with her boyfriend. He takes her out for drinks and she is not happy about going.
Leah's boyfriend discusses a drug deal and hiring a hit man.
Sam's spy cam plan works and Leah's boyfriend cancels the hit and says he will quit dealing, and take up the piano.
